Transport and moving O. Jylhä started in 1961, when Pekka Jylhä’s father Olavi Jylhä started transporting moving loads and foodstuffs in the Central Finland region. Pieni Pekka was involved almost from the early years of the company.
“I have traveled with my father since I was a little boy. I washed cars, and whenever possible, I was on the trip. That’s where the interest in this field started,” says Pekka Jylhä.
The company’s international traffic started in 1989, when a flower wholesaler who was a customer asked Pekka Jylhä if she would be interested in picking up a cargo of flowers from Holland.
“I asked how much he would pay. I still remember that amount, it was exactly 20,000 marks,” Pekka Jylhä recalls.
“I picked up the map and looked at where Holland was. Then I told my father that we need a car to bring flowers from Holland.”
That was the beginning of the company’s international traffic. Now the third generation works in the family business, when all three of Pekka’s children work in the company. “Today, we are the market leader in temperature-controlled transport, and in 2021 we were chosen as the transport company of the year. This path has progressed quite well,” states Pekka Jylhä.
Our company has always been 100% family business. The operation has expanded over the decades and currently Jylhä Logistics employs around 170 transport professionals and there are around 300 different transport units.
We have grown to an international scale, but we want to continue to be the same down-to-earth, unpretentious transport company that cares about its people and understands its customers’ daily lives as we were 60 years ago.
To achieve our goals, we must be ready to break new ground and move the whole transport industry forward. Only one can be first, and in a fiercely competitive environment, the winner will be the one that best meets both customer expectations and unexpectedly changing situations.
Quality comes from doing the little things a little better. There are many tight turns in a single transport, but at best, the customer’s experience is that this was another wonderfully handy job for Jylhä.
Our most important value of all is to keep the quality of our service high. We keep our supply chains as short as possible and offer the best transport conditions for even the most demanding products.
We monitor shipments in real time, so we can be sure that they are on schedule and arrive at their destination at the right temperature.
We have a comprehensive understanding of the requirements of sensitive products in terms of temperatures, air circulation, ethylene gases, schedules, product safety and cleanliness of the cargo area. We understand that quality always comes from doing the little things a little better.

Our transport fleet is low-emission and some of our trucks run entirely on biogas. We also score the way we drive according to economy, so we can do better! With a low-emission transport fleet, we also help our customers meet their own emission reduction targets.
We use special equipment to keep the air circulating in the load compartments to preserve products for longer, thus reducing waste. We also use solar panels to generate electricity, for example for the German national grid.
